Stepping on his wife’s stepchild to death, the lover paid a heavy price

On June 9, the People’s Court of Vinh Long province opened a first-instance criminal trial and sentenced Nguyen Minh Quan (born in 1991, living in Nhon Binh commune, Tra On district, Vinh Long) to life in prison for murder.

According to the indictment, from 2018, Ms. NTQN (23 years old, living in Cay Bang hamlet, My Thanh Trung commune, Tam Binh district, Vinh Long) and Mr. PLH (28 years old, living in cluster 2, TT. Tam Binh, H. Tam Binh) live together as husband and wife, without marriage registration) at Mr. H’s house at the above address.

Until June 2021. Ms. N. and Mr. H. have a son together named PGB (2 years old, no birth certificate). During this time, Mr. H. got acquainted with Quan, so he invited him to live with Mr. H’s family.

According to the file, Quan is a drug addict, married and divorced in 2016. In June 2021, Mr. H. committed property theft, was sentenced to 9 months in prison by the People’s Court of Tam Binh district and served the sentence in Ben Gia prison (Tra Vinh) from October 18, 2021.

After H. went to serve his sentence, Quan lived as husband and wife with Ms. N. at Mr. H’s house.

On the evening of November 30, 2021, Quan caught a snake. When he got home, Quan asked Ms. N. to take out her belongings. At this time, when Mrs. N. put baby GB on the floor to go get the snake container for Quan, the baby cried, so she went back to comfort him.

After putting the snake in the bag, baby B was still crying loudly, so Quan got angry and used his feet to kick many times on the head and legs, making him unconscious. At this time, Quan took the car to carry Ms. N. and baby B. to the emergency room. At 5:00 p.m. on November 30, 2021, baby B. died.

According to the conclusion of the forensic examination of the Criminal Technical Department of Vinh Long Police, the cause of death of baby B. was due to traumatic brain injury.

As for the fact that Quan lived with Ms. N., the People’s Procuracy of Vinh Long province sent a document to the locality to consider and sanction administrative violations according to regulations.
