According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Deputy Foreign Minister Switzerland Robert Rydberg and his Vietnamese counterpart Ha Kim Ngoc will chair the Vietnam – Sweden political consultation on June 10 in Hanoi.

During his visit, Mr. Robert Rydberg will pay a courtesy visit to Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and attend meetings and discussions with the Vietnamese side about cooperation in the coming time between the two countries.

According to the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, on the first day of arriving in Vietnam, the Swedish diplomat visited Bai Bang Paper Factory (now Vietnam Paper Corporation – VINAPAC) in Phu Tho province.

This is considered as the biggest and most prominent symbol, the result of the development cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Sweden.

“Given our historic relationship, Vietnam is a good friend and an important partner of Sweden in the ASEAN region. I am delighted to have the opportunity to discuss with my counterparts in Hanoi and exchange views on current issues, and at the same time address common challenges such as green recovery after the pandemic, energy crisis and climate change”, said Mr. Robert Rydberg after arriving in Hanoi. Over the past 53 years, Sweden and Vietnam have been and still are good friends and reliable partners, even in the most difficult times.

On January 11, 1969, at a time when Vietnam was still divided by war, Sweden became the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

“The Swedish government and the Swedish people always wish to express their support and solidarity with the Vietnamese people,” the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam shared.

Bilateral trade between Sweden and Vietnam has maintained a stable growth rate in recent years. In 2021, the total two-way trade turnover will reach 1.5 billion USD.

More than 60 Swedish companies are present in Vietnam, including brands is working closely with Vietnamese suppliers and partners, contributing to Vietnam’s goal of green – sustainable development.
