Three people escaped when the house on stilts collapsed
Thanh HoaPham Ba Hao and his 11-year-old son were watching football when the hillside collapsed, causing the house on stilts to completely collapse. Three people were trapped inside.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on June 8, right when Mr. Hao, 48, heard a strange noise coming from the hillside in Quarter 5, Son Lu town, Quan Son border district.
Mr. Hao’s family did not have time to evacuate when the house wobbled and collapsed. Relatives and local authorities took the three victims out. No one’s life is in danger, but two members of the crew were injured by the roof tiles, wood and corrugated iron roof.

On June 9, police and militia of Quan Son district were mobilized to find the property and plan to rebuild the house for Mr. Hao’s family. According to the authorities, the house was built about 4 years ago, with an area of nearly 100 m2, the damage is estimated at more than a billion dong.
Quarter 5, Son Lu town has some high risk of landslides. In 2018, there was a similar incident near this location that left one person dead. Last night, 7 households (23 people) living in the vicinity of Mr. Hao’s family were ordered to evacuate to a safe place in case the hillside continued to collapse.

Heavy rain in the past two days has caused local floods in some localities in Thanh Hoa on small rivers and streams. In Muong Ly commune, Muong Lat district, the government had to evacuate nearly 100 households in the villages of Un, Xi Lo, Xa Lung, and Trung Tien.
