Tiger Woods quits US Open 2022

America“Super Tiger” will not attend the major organized by the American Golf Association (USGA) next week to nourish his strength for The Open at the 150th match next month.

“I have sent notice of my withdrawal to the USGA due to health reasons. Now, I aim to recover in time for the JP McManus Pro-Am and The Open, both in Ireland next month.” Woods notice via Twitter on 7/6.

This year, the US Open in its 122nd round at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts from June 16 to June 19, and The Open from July 14 to 17, hosted by Royal & Ancient (R&A) at the Old Court. in the St. Andrews – which is considered the cradle of world golf.

In the current 15 major collection, Woods has won the USGA three times, won the Claret Jug trophy from the R&A three times, including twice at the Old Court. From 2013 to now, Woods has only attended the US Open four times, of which three times were eliminated, in 2019 to T21.

The annual men’s major quartet currently includes the Masters, PGA Championship, US Open and The Open, respectively.

Woods is not completely healthy, especially in the legs, after a traffic accident that nearly lost his life in February 2021. In April of this year, he chose the Masters at Augusta National as his rematch and finished 47th. Before the PGA Championship in May at the Southern Hills, “Super Tiger” said his legs were stronger. In the tournament, he crossed the cut but limped in the 3rd round and then gave up. It was the first time Woods had left a major early in his 26 years of top golf.

Compared to Augusta National and Southern Hills, the Old Court’s terrain is less steep, so it will be more “comfortable” for Woods’ foot condition.

Woods holds a record 683 weeks at the world number one and with legendary Sam Snead holds the record of winning the PGA Tour – 82 titles.
