TOP 5 industries with the highest average income in the country
According to the Vietnam Business White Paper 2021 of the General Statistics Office, income The average monthly labor rate of an active enterprise in 2019 was 9.3 million VND, an increase of 5.8% compared to 2018.
In terms of economic sector, the service sector had the highest average monthly income in 2019 with 10.8 million VND, up 5.4% compared to 2018; industry and construction reached 8.6 million dong, up 5.8%. Notably, according to the report, the financial, banking and insurance industries have the highest average income of all economic sectors with 24.5 million VND, ranked second is the manufacturing and electricity distribution with 18.3 million VND.
The top 5 industries with the highest income are the information and communication industry (17.7 million dong), mining (14 million dong) and the real estate business (12.3 million dong).

The report also shows that, compared to 2018, the state-owned enterprise sector has the highest average monthly income per employee in 2019 with 14.2 million VND, up 14.2% (in which, the enterprise sector with 100% state capital reached 13.8 million VND, up 16.7%); non-state enterprise sector 8.3 million dong, up 5.6%; FDI enterprise sector was 10.1 million dong, up 3.8%.
As for the size of the business, the average monthly income of an employee in 2019 increased gradually according to the size of the business from micro to large, specifically the microenterprise sector had the lowest income with 6.9 million. VND/month and decreased slightly by 55 compared to 2018 (down 0.8%); the small-scale enterprise sector has an income of 8.1 million dong, up 5.7%.

By locality, there are 8/63 localities with the average monthly income of employees in operating enterprises with business results in 2019 higher than the national average income (9.3 million VND/ person/month).
Mainly these localities have large-scale enterprises, belonging to key economic regions, of which 5/63 localities have the average monthly income of workers in enterprises operating with effective results. Business production in 2019 is over 10.0 million VND a month, including: Ba Ria – Vung Tau 11.5 million VND; City. Ho Chi Minh City 10.8 million VND; Hanoi 10.5 million VND; Quang Ninh 10.1 million dong; Dong Nai 10.0 million VND.

55/63 localities have the average monthly income of employees in operating enterprises whose production and business results in 2019 are lower than the national average income
Of which, 3/63 localities have an average monthly income of less than 5.0 million VND: Dien Bien 4.7 million VND; Dak Lak 4.9 million VND; Son La is nearly 5.0 million VND. There are 52/63 localities with the average monthly income of a worker in the range of 5.0 million to 9.3 million dong.
In the period 2016 – 2019, 6/63 localities have the average monthly income of employees in enterprises in the 2016-2019 period of over VND 9.0 million. These localities include Ba Ria – Vung Tau 10.3 million dong; City. Ho Chi Minh City 9.9 million dong; Hanoi 9.4 million VND; Bac Ninh 9.2 million VND; Dong Nai 9.2 million; Thai Nguyen 9.1 million.
In addition, according to the report, 4/63 localities have the average monthly income of employees in the period 2016-2019 below 5.0 million VND, including: Dien Bien 4.5 million VND; Son La 4.7 million VND; Dak Lak 4.7 million VND; Bac Lieu nearly 5.0 million VND.
