Fire at charging station in India, at least 90 cars burned

A day after the fire, the Delhi Fire Department (DFS) said the fire was caused by an electrical short at a charging station or a nearby device.
The incident happened in the parking lot of the train station in Jamia Nagar area, New Delhi, at around 5am on June 8, local time.
The fire quickly spread from a charging e-ricksaw to vehicles parked nearby.

By page The Indian ExpressThis parking lot is located next to the subway station and has been rented to a private car company. The space is divided into two parts including a parking area and an electric trailer charging area.
DFS director Atul Garg said: “We received a call at 5am. 11 fire engines arrived at the scene. The fire was extinguished afterwards.”
The fire destroyed more than 50 old electric trailers, 30 new electric trailers, 10 cars and 3 two-wheelers.

“The parking lot manager was on the scene. We believe a car was on fire. Police are also investigating the incident,” Mr. Garg added.
A representative of the private car company, the owner of the electric trailers that caught fire, said: “We have lost more than 90% of the electric trailers. That is the car we rented. We have suffered a huge loss.” .
Metro Delhi Railway Corporation said there were no injuries in the June 8 incident and is coordinating with authorities to avoid a recurrence.
