Despite careful research and inspection, the head of the Medical Equipment and Supplies Department at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City is always worried about “wrong without knowing”. The reason is that current guidelines do not cover all situations in practice.

Work is very stressful. Although I have researched and checked carefully, I am always afraid of being wrong because the instructions do not cover all situations in reality.
The Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City confirmed, one of the most common psychology today of the heads of medical supplies and equipment departments in hospitals is anxiety, even confusion with the assigned work.
They stand between two legitimate but always opposing demands. On the one hand, we must listen to and meet the requirements of specialists in the hospital, always wanting the best medical supplies and equipment for diagnosis and treatment. On the other hand, must comply with the request of the hospital’s Board of Directors, explain to the audit and inspection teams about the construction of the estimated price when bidding to ensure that the purchase price must be the lowest price.
The Department of Health said that at present, the guiding circulars for the procurement of medical equipment and supplies have not really met the situations and requirements from reality. All medical staff in charge of this activity hope to soon have new legal regulations, like the field of drug procurement.
In the coming time, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to propose to the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries and branches to soon issue detailed and specific guidance documents on the process of building a list and how to prepare a project. accounting, construction of configurations, etc., in order to create a solid legal framework, to limit mistakes in bidding and procurement.
At the same time, the Department of Health continues to advise and submit to the City People’s Committee a project to establish a centralized procurement center for drugs, medical supplies and equipment.
