Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu has issued several notes to his clients that provide a follow-up look at Apple products.

After Apple introduced the M2 at WWDC 2022, all eyes began to look at how Apple’s upcoming strategy will be, especially since the M2 is not really a huge improvement over the M1.

In his report, Pu said that TSMC is expected to start manufacturing M2 Pro chips for Apple later this year using the 3nm process. The lower the process number, the higher the number of transistors that can be placed inside the chip, and that is important because usually the larger the transistors inside the chip, the more powerful and energy efficient the chip is.

Pu also added that Apple’s mixed reality (MR) headset will be released before the Lunar New Year next year (January 22, 2023) and go into mass production the following month. The mixed reality headset will feature virtual reality (VR) as the user immerses in the virtual environment.

Besides, the headset also supports augmented reality (AR) technology. This is a real-world feed, covered by a data overlay. A good example of AR is the video game Pokemon GO, where real-world live video is covered with overlays showing the locations of hidden Pokemon.

The MR headset is said to be equipped with up to 15 cameras, 4K micro-OLED screens and the ability to track eye movements and hand gestures.

Pu also provided some information about the iPhone when he said that Apple will launch its own 5G modem design on the iPhone 15 next year. That same year, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will have a periscope for improved optical zoom. This is why Apple’s iPhone 15 is more attractive than ever.

Although Pu did not mention USB-C in its note, the iPhone 15 is also said to be the first product line with a USB-C port that is used to replace the Lightning port. Experts recommend, if you feel it is not necessary to spend money on iPhone 14 launched this year, users can completely save their budget to wait for the redesigned iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. in the next year.
