Young man selling excavators on Facebook, appropriating more than 7 billion VND

Nguyen Trung Hieu posted on Facebook to sell excavators, asked customers to transfer the deposit, then did not deliver the goods.

On June 9, Bac Ninh Provincial Police said that the Department of Cybersecurity and Prevention criminal using high technology to coordinate with the investigative police agency, the police of Bac Ninh province, successfully broke the case and arrested Nguyen Trung Hieu (26 years old, in Me Linh district, Hanoi) for fraud, taking over take property.

According to the investigative agency, around March 2022, Hieu set up a Facebook account named “Nguyen Tuan” to sell cheap excavators imported from Laos.

When someone asked to buy, Hieu asked customers to deposit 20-30% of the product value in advance and promised 7-10 days to ship the excavator back to the country. After receiving the deposit, Hieu did not deliver the car.

With the above trick, from March to May 2022, Hieu cheated and appropriated the properties of 14 people in provinces and cities with a total amount of more than 7.3 billion VND.

During the investigation, the police agency seized two phones, a bank card, more than 200 million dong and two cars which were assets of the crime.

The police department continues to expand the investigation of the case.
