Germany continues to import energy from Russia
This assertion was made by Olaf Scholz before the National Assembly of this country, despite pressure from some European countries to reduce fuel imports from Russia.
The German chancellor said that in the short term, the country cannot eliminate energy supplies from Russia. Because if you do, hundreds of thousands of jobs will be at risk, entire industries will be on the brink. This would push Germany and possibly the whole of Europe into a recession.
However, Prime Minister Olaf Scholz emphasized the goal of increasing the use of renewable energy and using energy more efficiently. Germany currently imports one-third of its oil and 45 percent of its coal from Russia.
