Two more Apple products were ‘deathed’
Apple has added the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 2 to its list of obsolete products that have been sold for more than five years.
The iPad Air 2 was released in October 2014 and was the first iPad Air to feature a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The device uses Apple’s A8X processor and features a multi-layer gapless display that’s significantly thinner than the original iPad Air. iPad Air 2 uses the same Secure Element security chip as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, supporting Apple Pay.
Released in November 2013, the iPad Mini 2 doesn’t have Touch ID or Secure Element, but it does have a Retina display with 2048 x 1536 resolution and an improved FaceTime HD camera. The device uses the same A7 and M7 chips found in the iPhone 5S. Essentially, the iPad Mini 2 is the same as its predecessor, albeit a bit heavier and thicker.
The list of obsolete products includes devices that Apple stopped distributing more than 5 years ago and less than 7 years ago. Products placed on this list will no longer be eligible for Apple repair or support services.
Before, Apple It is expected that at the beginning of May will list three MacBook models including: 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air (early 2014), and 13-inch MacBook Pro (mid-2014) to the list of obsolete products.
