Bloomberg reported, a year after the incident of a giant ship stuck in the Suez Canal for nearly a week, disrupting global commerce for months, another ship belonging to Evergreen Marine company also ran aground. , this time near an American city.

Specifically, the ship Ever Forward ran aground after leaving the Baltimore Seagirt Terminal on Sunday evening. The 334m-long ship was on its way to Norfolk, Virginia, when it got stuck in the Chesapeake Bay.

According to Maryland Port Director Villiam p. Doyle said: “The ship is stuck without affecting other ships entering the port of Baltimore. Efforts are being made to free the ship and will continue today.”

Evergreen has arranged for divers to check for any damage and they are participating in efforts to free the ship as soon as possible. An investigation into the cause of the ship’s entanglement is also underway.

Last year, a 400m long, 220,000-ton Evergreen ship was also stuck in Suez, blocking the flow of nearly $10 billion a day.
