Android 13 can support 2 carriers on the same eSIM, completely removing the physical SIM

Through a feature called Multiple Enabled Profiles (MEP), Google wants to support up to two carriers on a single eSIM and easily switch between networks.
Google is said to have developed this new feature according to a patent filed in 2020, which describes splitting the SIM into two digital connections. It was previously reported that Google was testing the feature on a particular Pixel.
This could allow manufacturers to remove the SIM card slot entirely to make room for some extra hardware. We could see the return of a microSD card or a slightly larger battery.
