    2. Officially enter the home appliance industry

Soon, China opened its economy as promised, and everyone waved the banner of “self-starter autonomy”, Ha Huong Kien was no exception. He liaises with the factory and related departments, uses the performance to prove his strength, goes to the major cities to pull orders and negotiates business.

Day by day, each factory was completed, the number of employees also increased, and advanced technology and machinery began to be used. Orders not only increased, but also high in value, his original dream of getting rich had blossomed and borne fruit.

In 1980, Ha Huong Kien officially entered the field of household appliances. He bought 100 sets of components for electric fans, tinkered with and learned how to assemble and manufacture metal electric fans.

After that, he established Midea fan factory in Shunde district, the scale gradually expanded with more than 200 workers working day and night, earning non-stop profits.

The success of this first start-up has encouraged Ha Huong Kien’s spirit. In 1985, he established an air conditioning equipment factory and began to produce air conditioners.

However, at that time, only a few households and businesses had the need to use air conditioners. The number of air conditioners produced could not be sold, causing Ha Huong Kien’s business path to come to a standstill. The factory was even close to closing, but thanks to raising capital from employees, the owner’s business, surnamed Ha, was still struggling.

In 1992, the policy of vigorous economic development in China was spread. At this time, Midea’s air conditioner brought success to Ha Huong Kien. However, his ambition did not stop there, taking advantage of the good development momentum, he expanded the scale of production and business projects, thus, Midea Group was born.
