At 5:00 am on April 19, the container truck BKS 50H 02064 pulled a BS 51R 40407 trailer traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Tien Giang when an accident occurred.
When the vehicle moved to km 32+00, the vehicle suddenly lost control and crashed into the corrugated iron divider in the middle of the highway. The force of the collision caused the container truck to run in the opposite direction and then overturned.
The accident caused the container truck to deform, severely damaged, and spill oil. Some highway technical infrastructure was damaged. Luckily the driver was not injured.
A representative of the highway management unit, Road Administration Department IV (Vietnam Road Administration) said that as soon as it received the information, the unit went to protect the scene and divide traffic. The accident caused serious traffic jams on the route.
Through work, the driver initially said he fell asleep.
Currently, relevant units are approaching the scene to investigate the cause. Vehicles on the expressway are regulated through Tan An and Ben Luc intersections to reduce congestion.
