The case of ‘Peng Lai Pure House’: Extending the detention of 3 defendants to June 2022

The Investigation Security Agency of Long An Provincial Police continued to temporarily hold the defendants Hoan Nguyen, Tung Duong and Nhat Nguyen until June 3.

Regarding the case of “Bong Lai Pure Land”, on April 26, the Investigation Security Agency of Long An Province Police said that this unit had sent a notice to the Commune Police, the People’s Committee of Hoa Khanh Tay Commune, Duc Hoa District, Long An province and Mrs. Cao Thi Cuc’s family (SN 1960, Lap Thanh hamlet, Hoa Khanh Tay commune) announced the extension of detention for 3 suspects.

Defendant Le Tung Van is out on bail.

Accordingly, the Investigation Security Agency of the Public Security of Long An Province continued to apply the temporary detention measure to the accused Le Thanh Nhat Nguyen (SN 1991), Le Thanh Tung Duong (SN 1995) and Le Thanh Hoan Nguyen (SN 1995). SN 1990) to June 3.

The three defendants Hoan Nguyen, Nhat Nguyen and Tung Duong continued to be detained until June 3.

This case was initially handled by the procedural authorities of Duc Hoa district (Long An province). After that, the case was transferred to the Investigation Security Agency of the Long An Provincial Police Department for further investigation according to its competence. After accepting the case, the Investigation Security Agency of Long An Province Police issued a decision to temporarily hold the accused for the first time and now extend the detention of the accused.

This case was discovered from the fact that the agencies of Long An province received many denunciations from organizations and individuals about illegal acts of a number of cases living in Mrs. Cao Thi Cuc’s household (where the called ‘Phong Lai Pure House’, then changed its name to ‘Zen am on the shores of the universe’).

The police investigation agency of Duc Hoa district police organized a search, worked with 14 people involved, prosecuted the case “Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate interests of organizations and individuals”, prosecuted defendants Le Tung Van (SN 1932), Nhat Nguyen, Tung Duong and Hoan Nguyen. In this case, only defendant Le Tung Van was released on bail.

Currently, the case is being investigated and handled by the Investigation Security Agency of the Long An Provincial Police Department in accordance with the law.
