Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Leading the Philippine presidential election

Candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. won more than 25 million votes, far ahead of rivals when 77% of votes were counted, according to statistical data.

As of 23:24 Philippines time (22:24 Hanoi time), about 77.32% of polling stations in the Philippines have announced the results.

Real-time data on the Philippine Election Commission’s transparent tracking system shows that presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is leading with more than 25 million votes, twice as much as incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo with nearly 12 million votes.

The big gap makes Marcos Jr.’s opponents. unlikely to overturn the election results.

About 67.5 million Filipinos aged 18 and over, along with about 1.7 million people from the overseas Filipino community, cast their ballots today to elect a president to replace Rodrigo Duterte.

There are 10 candidates running for the presidency, of which two are predicted to have the highest chance of winning, congressman Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and current Vice President Leni Robredo.

Filipinos also choose a new vice president, a position elected separately from the president. In addition, they also vote on MPs, governors and a series of local officials.
