Chess: Vietnamese players are leading convincingly
The Vietnamese chess team, both men and women, is playing very impressively after 3 rounds at SEA Games 31.
Today, chess continues to play the 3rd game at the Ha Long Convention and Exhibition Palace (Quang Ninh). In this game, the Vietnamese players played very successfully.

In the men’s group, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son defeated the leading Indonesian player, Priasmoro Novendra, after 49 moves. The match was quite tense, but the famous chess player from Kien Giang played the endgame very well, so he defeated his opponent.

Winning this game, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son rose to the top of the men’s group with 2.5 points.
Meanwhile, in the women’s group, two Vietnamese players, Hoang Thi Bao Tram and Vo Thi Kim Phung, continued to show impressive performance.

Bao Tram defeated Gong Qianyun (Singapore) after 40 moves, and Vo Thi Kim Phung defeated Citra Dewi Ardhiani Anastasia (Indonesia) after 41 moves. Thus, Bao Tram and Kim Phung shared 2.5 points, sharing first and second place in the women’s group.
With their performance, currently, Bao Tram and Kim Phung are hard to find opponents in the women’s group, so they promise to help Vietnamese chess get the first gold medal.
