Gucci x Adidas umbrella gets backlash because it costs 1,300 USD but can’t cover the rain

The fashion collection under the combination of Gucci and Adidas launched recently has caused a fever with fashionistas. In addition to the impressive outfits with decorative motifs from two high-end brands, a number of accessories are equally noticeable, typically a luxury umbrella priced at 1,290 USD.

However, despite those highlights, consumers in China expressed frustration, according to Jing Daily. The hashtag “not waterproof collab umbrella sold at 11,000 yuan” (a waterproof umbrella sold for 11,000 yuan) garnered hundreds of millions of views on Weibo. The beautiful Gucci x Adidas umbrella can’t stand the rain and can’t completely protect its owner from it. Gucci’s online store also states: “Please note, this item is not waterproof and used for sun protection or decoration.”

What makes buyers angry is why can’t a manufacturer make something useful at such an expensive price. An umbrella that can’t resist rain is as useless as bottled air.

However, the luxury brand was quick to respond and made product name changes from “rain umbrella” to simply “umbrella”. For many others, it’s simply fashionable, beautiful, and not necessarily logical for any reason.
