Two senior US officials arrive in Saudi Arabia for talks this week

Brett McGurk, US President Joe Biden’s top adviser on the Middle East, and Amos Hochstein, the State Department’s energy special envoy, met with officials. Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed to reporters that Mr. McGurk and Mr. Hochstein had traveled to Saudi Arabia, focusing on looking at “Saudi Arabia’s involvement in energy security” and US officials did not ask Saudi Arabia to increase oil exports.

Ms. Karine Jean-Pierre also said that OPEC + will make its own decision because this concerns oil and added: “We are consulting all oil producers on market conditions, including Saudi Arabia.”

Biden and his advisers considered visiting Saudi Arabia as well as Israel after the US president attended summits in Germany and Spain in late June, the sources said.
