Super Bomberman R Online will stop working at the end of this year

According to VCG, Super Bomberman R Online nearing completion at the end of this year. The free online multiplayer game was originally released in 2020 as a Stadia exclusive, but was later released on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on May 27, 2021.

However, Konami has now announced that the game will no longer be playable as of December 1 of this year, just 18 months after its release on consoles.

“Super Bomberman R Online has continued to work with multi-user support since its launch in May 2021,” Konami’s statement read, which does not appear to take into account the Stadia release. “But for some reason, we have decided to terminate the service on all platforms on December 1, 2022. We hope that you will enjoy the game until the end of the service.”

In spite of news about game closures that could mark the end of free-to-play titles Bombermanbut it seems the predecessor version Super Bomberman CHEAP will still be available for purchase.

Konami has also assured players that the series Bomberman continues even though the free game is closed, promising something newer to be revealed soon.

Super Bomberman R Online is a special online-only version of Super Bomberman CHEAPwith a Battle 64 mode for up to 64 players to battle each other.
