The Ministry of Health recommends that children under 2 years old are not required to be tested for SARS-CoV-2. Children who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have never been infected with SARS-CoV-2 are allowed to enter.

On March 15, the Ministry of Health sent a draft on epidemic prevention COVID-19 for people on entry, send them to ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government-attached agencies; People’s Committees of provinces and centrally run cities.

Requirements on epidemic prevention and control for people on entry

For people entering by air: must have a negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 (except for children under 2 years old) before departure within 72 hours if using the RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method or within 24 hours if using the SARS-CoV-2 antigen rapid test method and certified by the competent authority of the country performing the test.

For people entering by other routes (land, waterway, railway): Must have the same test as for entry by air.

In case there is no negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 as specified above, a SARS-CoV-2 test must be performed within the first 24 hours (by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method or by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method). rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 virus) since entry.

If the test results are negative, they are allowed to leave the accommodation and take preventive measures against the epidemic according to regulations. If the test result is positive, it must be reported immediately to the local health authority for instructions on timely handling.

Medical declaration must be made before entry

People on entry must make a medical declaration before entering and use the medical declaration application (PC-COVID) during their stay in Vietnam according to regulations.

Proposing people to enter the country do not need a confirmation of vaccination or have recovered from COVID-19
