In the latest media interview, assistant coach Saad Hafez of Iraq U23 was wary of U23 Vietnam:
“U23 Vietnam is one of the very strong teams in the Dubai Cup 2022. No one is allowed to underestimate them, especially when witnessing the comprehensive development of Vietnamese football as well as the tournaments U23 Vietnam participates in.
The Iraqi U23 training board let the players watch the video of the U23 Vietnam match against Thailand U23. We see that the most outstanding features of U23 Vietnam is the ability to switch states very quickly.
Therefore, in training sessions, U23 Iraq focused on trying to stop U23 Vietnam by pressing continuously. From there, U23 Vietnam’s attacks will decrease in effectiveness.”
Many players of the U23 Vietnam team that won the 2022 Southeast Asian U23 Championship were summoned to attend the 2022 Dubai Cup.
Besides showing a cautious attitude towards U23 Vietnam, assistant Saad Hafez also revealed the current status of U23 Iraq: “The spirit of Iraq U23 is very high. We hope to make a change in all aspects at the Dubai Cup. This will be a good tournament to prepare for the 2022 AFC U23 Championship.
The presence of a number of players playing in Europe will help Iraq U23 have many options to concede U23 Vietnam. After that, we will plan accordingly to face Saudi Arabia U23.
