Officials say an Arizona javelina got stuck in a car last week during a chase for Cheetos.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy answered a call Wednesday and found the creature in a Subaru station wagon.

When rushing into the car, the hatch closed, trapping the animal. According to the sheriff’s office, Javelina filled up the “empty Cheeto bag” and tried unsuccessfully to escape.

The animal tore off part of the dashboard and passenger doors. It also flung the car into the median, sending it out of the driveway onto the other side of the road.

The sheriff’s office said no one was injured. The co-pilot opened the hatch and allowed the plunger to re-enter the wilderness.

“As a reminder, if you’re in the Southwest, you probably already know it’s best not to feed the javelina,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Yes, it’s tempting, but when wild animals are being fed, it draws them into neighborhoods and can create unnecessary conflicts.”

Javelinas are also known as peacocks or skunks.
