Talking to Thai media, Coach Mano Polking pointed out three very important factors, leading the “War Elephants” towards the goal of winning gold:
“We still don’t have enough players, but we are gradually adding more. We don’t have much time to practice and it’s important that we perfect the tactics for new players. We will try to communicate with all team members.
Players over the age of 23 understand our game system and approach very well. Goalkeeper Kawin Thammasatchanan is a man of high leadership. I have great confidence in him. Meanwhile, 21-year-old young player Chayaphiphat Suphanphat, who plays for Estoril club in Portugal, is very determined before going to Vietnam. Chayaphiphat believes that the experience of playing football in Europe will help him promote his ability when competing at the SEA Games.
“I am very proud to wear the Thailand U23 shirt. In the past, I played with Estoril’s B team. I am only 21 years old and I am very hungry to fight. Having played in Portugal is different from playing in Thailand U23, but I will try to bring that to make a difference for Thailand U23. I am ready to follow the method of the head coach.
I went to Bayern Munich’s youth team when I was 14 years old and then Portugal. This is my first time returning to play for Thailand U23. I am very eager to win gold with the whole team.”
