Phonethip Vongsa (22 years old, from Phongsaly province, Laos) is currently a first-year international student at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

On May 7, Phonethip Vongsa attracted attention when sharing a clip of her dancing happily after leaving Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh.

It is known that the Laotian girl rode a motorbike from Thai Binh to Nam Dinh with her compatriots to directly cheer for Laos U23 in the match between Laos U23 and Singapore U23 at SEA Games 31.

Phonethip Vongsa said that the reason she decided to come to Thien Truong Stadium to directly cheer the home team came in a very special and accidental way.

“The other day, I was surfing Facebook and happened to know that the Laos U23 team received a warm welcome from Nam Dinh fans before they entered the match against Singapore U23.

Specifically, the Nam Dinh fan association prepared flags, banners, slogans, and printed shirts bearing the Lao national flag to cheer for the Laos U23 players.

I was touched and excited when I saw Laos U23 receive a warm welcome from Nam Dinh fans before entering the match against Singapore U23, so I invited my brothers and sisters, you are also Lao students studying. In Thai Binh, set up a motorcycle association to watch and cheer” – Lao girl shared.

Under the cheers of thousands of fans on Thien Truong Stadium, U23 Laos – U23 Singapore entered the game very excitedly and created remarkable situations early on. At the end of the match, the two teams drew with a score of 2 – 2.

“Even though the Laos team didn’t win, I’m still very happy because this is the first time I can go to support the home team in such a big stadium, witnessing a lot of Vietnamese fans cheering for my hometown team, it’s warm. So after watching, I recorded a clip and posted it on Tiktok as a souvenir.”

It is known that this is only the second year Phonethip Vongsa has studied in Vietnam, but she is already quite fluent in reading, writing and communicating in Vietnamese.

The Lao girl said that it took her more than a year to hone her Vietnamese fluently as she is now: “The reason I chose to study in Vietnam is because there is a developing education here, I also love the scenery, Vietnamese people should want to stay longer.

For me, the biggest challenge when studying in Vietnam is Vietnamese. Learning Vietnamese is not easy at all, there are many words I have to translate using my phone, reading and writing is also difficult. It took more than a year for me to be able to communicate,” – Lao girl shared.

Lao girls said that in studying or living, she was always cared for and facilitated by teachers and friends. Vietnamese friends also help a lot for Phonethip Vongsa to improve their Vietnamese.

Currently, Phonethip Vongsa can talk and interact on social networking platforms with Vietnamese friends. The Laotian girl said that in addition to studying, she also takes advantage of her free time to visit many beautiful scenes and famous places.

“I came to Vietnam at the right time, so I haven’t been to many places, but I have been to the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Village, Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum in Hanoi and Tam Chuc Pagoda in Ha Nam… In my eyes, Viet Nam is very beautiful, Vietnamese people are extremely friendly and kind.”
