After serving 17 years in prison, the man continued to steal

On May 18, the Criminal Police Team of Son Tra District (Da Nang) detained Doan Thanh Chau (SN 1975, residing in Thanh Khe, Da Nang) to investigate property theft. Worth mentioning, Chau has just finished serving a 17-year prison sentence for the same crime.

According to the investigation, after serving the prison sentence, Doan Thanh Chau used a motorbike with a fake BOS as a means of stealing. From March 2022 to April 19, 2022, Chau successfully carried out 6 cases of property theft in Son Tra and Cam Le districts.

Typically, on March 28, Doan Thanh Chau came to Duong Dinh Nghe’s motel room (An Hai Bac ward, Son Tra district) to steal an Ipad Air 4, pink tablet. After that, Chau continued to break into another motel room. Seeing the innkeeper sleeping, Chau stole an Iphone Xsmax brand phone.

Next, the police determined that on April 6, April 8, April 15 and April 19, Chau repeatedly broke into motels, houses, etc. to take many other valuable properties. The object is mainly targeted at vulnerable families, stealing electronic devices such as tablets and mobile phones to easily disperse assets and get spending money.

According to the victims, the total value of property appropriated by Doan Ngoc Chau from the above cases is nearly 150 million VND.

Son Tra district police said that Doan Thanh Chau was 47 years old but had 6 previous convictions with a total of more than 28 years in prison. The investigative force is continuing to expand verification and consolidate records to handle the subject in accordance with regulations.
