Warning about fake website of the Ministry of Public Security to scam

The above unit discovered that the website with the domain name http://2.0840113 has signs of counterfeiting the website of the Ministry of Public Security with the domain name http://bocongan.gov.vn .

By the afternoon of May 19, the fake website was no longer accessible. However, the fake website of the Ministry of Public Security or other State agencies can be done under other domain names.

The Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control clearly recommends the tricks of the Ministry of Public Security’s website impersonators.

Specifically, they will impersonate the police force that is investigating cases related to corruption, money laundering, drugs… and actively contact individuals to release information that hits the victim’s psychology. It is a request to present to the police agency, which will prosecute a criminal case, prosecute the accused, execute a detention order…

They make the victim step by step into a trap, requiring these individuals to provide personal information such as: ID card or citizen identification, phone number, bank property number, account balance, etc. saying that as a financial inspector, checking money is related to illegal activity?

After obtaining the information, the subjects sent a code and asked the victim to log into the website with the above domain name, which is a fake website with the same interface as the website of the Ministry of Public Security. Here, the victim must declare personal information, select the item to cancel the confirmation of the OTP code, which is the bank’s security method for the account when transacting, by the number sequence texted to the registered phone.

After obtaining the necessary information about the bank account and the victim “trapped” when canceling the account’s OTP code confirmation, the subjects easily took control of the bank account from which to appropriate money. .
