On May 27, doctors and nurses from the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hospital K jointly performed cesarean section and radical hysterectomy for women with cervical cancer.

A baby boy weighing 2kg was born crying in the joy of his family and the doctor’s team. It is known that pregnant woman Nguyen Thi Viet H. is currently 31 years old, after being examined, she discovered that she had cervical cancer, a tumor that could reverse the vagina during her second pregnancy.

Doctors conducted an inter-hospital consultation between the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hospital K to come up with a treatment plan for the patient, including intravenous fluids and antibiotics, hemostasis, and blood transfusion (4 units of HCK 350 ml). from March 15 to April 27, 2022.

MRI results on April 20, 2022 showed that the patient had a tumor size of 92 * 78 mm, invading 1/3 of the vagina, clearly demarcating the rectum and bladder, the left iliac node 6mm, pregnancy in the uterus.

Fetal ultrasound on May 19, 2022 at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the patient was 33 weeks and 3 days pregnant, the fetal heart rate was 130 l/min, the estimated fetal weight was 1,928 g, the cervix had a tumor of 108×91 mm.

After inter-hospital consultation, on the morning of May 27, doctors who are leading experts of the two hospitals collaborated to perform cesarean section and radical hysterectomy for pregnant H.

The surgical team includes doctors from the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Hospital K, including Assoc. Tran Danh Cuong, Director of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Dr. BS Le Tri Chinh, Head of the Department of Surgery and Gynecology, K Hospital performed cesarean section and radical hysterectomy.

A baby boy weighing 2,000 grams was born safely. The surgery took place successfully, the removal of the entire uterus and lymph node dissection after caesarean section is the optimal treatment option, ensuring oncology for the patient.

The doctors assessed that the health of both mother and child after surgery had positive signs. The baby was transferred to the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology for further care and monitoring.
