Vietnam wins three gold medals at the Asian Informatics Olympiad

Three students participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad won gold medals and four students won silver, helping Vietnam achieve its best ever in this competition.

On the evening of June 1, the Quality Management Department (Ministry of Education and Training) said that all seven students in the Vietnamese team participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad won medals.

Three gold medal winners are Truong Van Quoc Bao (12th grade Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An), Duong Minh Khoi (12th grade High School for Gifted Students, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Tran Xuan Bach (Class 12th). 11, High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences).

Four silver medals belonged to Le Huu Nghia (12th grade of Binh Long High School for the Gifted, Binh Phuoc), Nguyen Nhat Minh (12th grade of High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences), Vu Huy Hoang (12th grade of Ha Long High School for Gifted Students, Quang Ninh Province). ), Tran Khoi Nguyen (grade 12 of Hanoi National University of Education for the Gifted).

After 10 years participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, this is the year Vietnamese students achieved the best results. Compare to last year with two gold, one silver and three bronze medals, this result is also far ahead.

The 2022 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad will be held online; Egypt is the host country. The Vietnamese national team, consisting of 15 contestants, competed online at the University of Technology, Hanoi National University on May 29. According to the regulations of the organizers, Vietnam is allowed to choose the seven candidates with the highest scores to participate in the award consideration.

Along with Vietnamese contestants, there are 881 contestants from 34 other countries and territories participating in this contest. In which, 186 children won prizes with 17 gold, 74 silver and 95 bronze medals. Only six countries and territories have gold medals, in addition to Vietnam won three, China won six, Russia won five, the remaining three teams from Singapore, Korea and Taiwan won one each.

Yesterday, the organizers of the Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad also announced the results with a silver medal, two bronze medals and six certificates of merit. The Ministry of Education and Training evaluated the results of these two competitions, showing the efforts of students, teachers and schools amid the complicated developments of Covid-19.
