In order to avoid making unfortunate mistakes, students must read the questions carefully, so they should practice thinking about making easy sentences first, then difficult sentences, to ensure that they “earn” the maximum score. Because of the multiple choice exam, all questions have the same score value.

According to Ms. Hue, with the form of fill-in-the-word reading, students need to know what kind of knowledge the given options are (type words, verb tenses…), determine the words to fill in the blanks in the lesson, Based on the grammar, meaning and style of the passage to choose words to fill in.

As for the type of test that chooses the closest sentence to the meaning, students need to read the original sentence carefully before choosing the answer and remember 2 important “tips” of this type of lesson. That is:

+ The answer will usually be a version using synonyms of the original sentences. Therefore, if you see an answer that has many synonyms for the original sentence, it may be more likely to be the correct answer.

+ The correct sentence must have all the information, including the smallest information of the original sentence. For example, place, time, … (if any).

“In the form of the test to choose the sentence closest to the meaning, students need to consider 4 answers to choose the correct answer so that it corresponds to the tense, the subject,… The confusing answers also have some information in the original sentence. but often it will be antonyms or missing one piece of information”, Ms. Hue shared.

According to Ms. Hue, up to this point, there are only a few days left until the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi will take place. Therefore, in addition to learning and review methods, students also need to have a daily practice plan to equip themselves with knowledge, skills, and psychology.
