Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy accepts bribes from Viet A

Son LaMr. Lo Van Chien, Head of Pharmacy Department of Son La General Hospital, was arrested for allegedly accepting bribes from Viet A Company when implementing the bidding package.

On June 7, Mr. Chien was prosecuted and detained by the Investigation Police Agency of Son La Province Bribery, according to Clause 2, Article 354 of the Penal Code.

Initial investigation results determined that, from September 2020, Son La Provincial General Hospital and Cong Viet A signed an economic contract to buy Covid-19 test kits. The bidding package has a total value of 1.05 billion VND.

Mr. Chien is alleged to have transacted with a representative of Viet A and received a percentage of the commission as agreed. However, the amount of bribe received has not been disclosed.

On the same day, due to the Viet A case, the Investigative Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security also prosecuted former Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long, former President of Hanoi Chu Ngoc Anh and former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology. Pham Cong Tac.

In the past 6 months, since the Viet A case was discovered, C03 and local police have prosecuted a total of more than 60 people.
