Usually, members of the cat family do not like water, rarely swimming freely underwater. Cats usually don’t let their fur get wet because this makes them cold, which is very uncomfortable. But on the contrary, the fierce black-and-yellow striped animals are an exception, preferring to be in the water and know how to swim.

Staff at the Australian Zoo shared an incredible video showing a tiger swimming in the water to play, showing no signs of hesitation or fear of the water. The tiger plunged into the water very naturally, swimming and playing in the water.

Normally, swimming tigers will submerge their bodies but do not fully dive underwater. Big cats don’t like getting water in their eyes, so they often wade up to their necks. However, the video also shows the big cats comfortably dropping into the water, diving all the way down before emerging in front of many tourists.

Zookeeper Giles explains that swimming helps the tigers cool off in the summer heat. He revealed that tigers rest at least 18 to 20 hours a day.
