The man beat to death the 2-year-old boy of his lover’s child

On June 9, the People’s Court of Vinh Long province tried defendant Nguyen Minh Quan (31 years old, living in Nhon Binh commune, Tra On district) on the charge of “Murder”. Defendant Quan was the one who beat to death a 2-year-old boy, the son of his lover.

Quan is a drug addict. In 2018, Quan was sentenced to 9 months in prison by the People’s Court of Thuan An town (now Thuan An city), Binh Duong province for “Theft of property”.

According to the indictment, Quan knew Ms. N. (23 years old, living in Tam Binh district, Vinh Long), then this woman was living with another man.

In October 2021, N.’s lover went to prison for the crime of Theft of property. At this time, Quan began to live as husband and wife with Ms. N. in Tam Binh district.

Around 1:00 am on November 30, 2021, Quan caught the snake and asked Ms. N. to take out the items to put them in. Older sister. N was sleeping with her 2-year-old son (her stepchild), heard Quan’s call and went out. At this time, the boy was crying, so Mrs. N. went back to comfort him.

Quan went into the bedroom, saw the boy crying loudly, he used his foot to kick the child’s head several times. Ms. N. intervened but could not. Seeing her son unconscious, this woman and Quan took him to the emergency room.

At 5:00 p.m. on the same day, the boy died at a hospital in Can Tho City. An autopsy revealed that the boy died from a traumatic brain injury.

The trial panel sentenced defendant Nguyen Minh Quan to life in prison for murder.
