Greenland ice bury 58 million-year-old alien attacker?-Information Technology

Hidden under the thick ice of Greenland is a mysterious structure up to 31 km in diameter, related to an unknown alien object.

According to Space, researchers from the GLOBE Institute of the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and the Swedish Museum of Natural History have discovered what they suspect is a giant impact crater beneath the Hiawatha’s thick layer of ice. Greenland.

The Danish team sampled sand from Hiawatha crater and heated it, using argon gas released from the particles to determine the impact event. Meanwhile, the team from Sweden sampled the rock during another independent survey to date it based on the uranium traces of the mineral zircon.

Both surveys point to the time of the collision as 58 million years ago.

The study also showed that at the time of the disaster, Greenland was not an ice island but a tropical rainforest. The mysterious object, which they believe to be an asteroid, has hit Earth with a force several million times stronger than an atomic bomb, leaving a giant crater, destroying parts of Greenland and causing global climate impacts.

Scientists say they are planning to continue their research to determine exactly what damage from the collision. But that estimate would be a heavy blow for the Earth just recovering from the Chicxulub disaster that killed off the dinosaurs.

They also have not directly determined how much material from the alien attacker remains in the crater, or how much of the asteroid may still be buried under the ice. Those are also the goals that follow-up studies aim at.

The preliminary study has just been published in the journal Science.
