She tried to give a reason to buy a ship to withdraw 1 million USD, but the employees did not agree to pay cash because the person in the name of the account was not present.
After Lin was arrested, the victim’s family (a 77-year-old man) discovered that he had been cheated. She deliberately “baited” the old man to agree to marry in the summer of 2018.
Authorities said the 77-year-old’s daughter said she and the rest of her family had no knowledge of the wedding. They suspect that the old man was tricked by a 26-year-old woman because of his advanced age and no longer lucid.
Lin and her husband are many years older.
When asked about the check, the old man said he only wanted Lin to receive the interest on the money, and did not want her to be deported to her native Israel. Later, when asked if he believed he was a victim of fraud or theft, the old man said yes.
In January 2021, Lin formally pleaded guilty to stealing money and jewelry from her 77-year-old husband, and was deported to Israel. Before that, she served 13 months in prison.
Lin’s attorney, Todd Foster, claims she followed orders from a psychic calling herself Jaycee Wasso. On March 15, Jaycee had to appear in court.
Jaycee Wasso is a self-proclaimed psychic.
According to prosecutors, Jaycee was the one behind pulling the strings for Lin to carry out the fraud and convince her to turn over what she had obtained.
The self-proclaimed psychic tells Lin that she can “expel evil spirits in exchange for cash” and urges Lin to find a rich man to carry out the scheme. Lin then married the 77-year-old man on August 21, 2018.
Attorney Todd Foster said: “My client was manipulated and believed that if she didn’t provide all of the money she was conned, terrible things would happen to her and her family.”
Jaycee is currently facing charges of fraud, money laundering and grand theft. Before the trial took place on March 15, prosecutors had brought up six other charges related to theft.
It is confirmed that Jaycee’s sentencing hearing date has been pushed back to allow more time for the defense to prepare the case.
