Chinese husband’s movie-like rescue of his wife in the middle of a fire

According to local media, the Chinese couple’s apartment in Nanjing, Jiangsu province caught fire on the morning of March 13.

The wife, surnamed Wang, was trapped in her bedroom when a fire broke out in her second-floor apartment. She tried to climb out the window and walked over to the balcony of the next house. The husband was already on the balcony, so he grabbed his wife.

In the video that went viral on Chinese social media, Chen held onto his wife while waiting for the fire department to arrive.

After Vuong was taken to safety, she begged the firemen: “Save my husband first”.

Both Vuong and Tran suffered severe burns and are receiving intensive care at a local hospital.

While Vuong suffered burns to more than 95% of his body, Tran suffered more serious injuries.

The couple were married more than 10 years apart and rarely argued.

“My sister is the oldest sister in the family. She is a gentle person, and my brother-in-law is honest. They are a role model for me and other sisters in the family.” Vuong’s sister shared.

No one else was injured in the fire. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

“Both were badly burned and were only wearing underwear. The man grabbed the woman for fear she would fall.”a witness surnamed Vi, who lives in the apartment next door, said.

The video attracted hundreds of comments on China’s Weibo social network.

“I think this scene only exists in movies,” a Weibo user commented.

“It’s touching. But it also reminds us to be prepared for a fire scenario in our home, like having a fire extinguisher and a fire escape cord ready.” Another person expressed his opinion.
