Since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, the country has faced financial and humanitarian crises. China is expected to host a meeting next week with the participation of neighboring Afghanistan, giving the Taliban an opportunity to present its own assessment of the situation in the country.
China shares a 76-kilometer border with Afghanistan. Beijing wishes to maintain stability in the country to ensure border security and maintain strategic investment in neighboring Pakistan, where the China-Pakistan strategic economic corridor lies.
