Bac Ninh has 67 children who won prizes in the national flagship student contest, of which 10 first prize; Hanoi has 125 prizes but only the first 7 prizes.
On March 26, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the results of the national examination of high achieving high school students for the 2021-2022 academic year as many as 69 units, covering 63 provinces and cities, together with Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City of Hanoi Pedagogical University and Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh University and Viet Bac Highlands High School.
Over 2,200 from over 4,600 contestants won prizes. Hanoi leads in the number of awards with 125 children; followed by Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Nghe An. These are all provinces and cities with a large number of awards in previous years. In the top 10 superior units, there are 9 provinces and cities. Hanoi National University is ranked fifth with 76 winners.
National awards give students many advantages in university admissions, helping them to be recruited directly or prioritized for admission.
Despite leading the number of prize-winning students, Hanoi was not the unit with the highest number of awards. Bac Ninh and Hanoi National University topped this list with 10 first prize winners; followed by Vinh Phuc (8), Hanoi (7), Ho Chi Minh City (7), Hai Phong (6), Nghe An (6) and Nam Dinh (4).
Counting all the units, there are more than 90 students who won first place. Winners in these subjects with regional and international Olympic teams will be able to participate in the contest to select the representative Vietnam team that will compete this year.
The national exam to select high achieving high school students for the 2021-2022 academic year will take place over three days (4-6 March) in 67 examination boards with 4,671 candidates. They competed in 12 subjects, including: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, and Chinese.
To ensure safety and adapt to the complex Covid-19 context, this year’s exam will not hold practical exams for Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. The scope of the exam content corresponds to the current high school education program and special programs.
