Ukraine announced a counterattack, Russia was accused of attacking medical facilities

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country’s military had launched many “strong blows” against the Russian armed forces.

“The army continues to prevent enemy attacks in the south of the country, in the Donbas region, in the direction of Kharkiv and in the area around the capital Kiev,” Zelensky was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera news agency. 3.

Zelensky also denied that the number of Russian soldiers killed in Ukraine was previously reported by Moscow authorities, and confirmed that “about 16,000 Russian soldiers have died since the conflict began”.

Russia is accused of destroying many medical facilities

According to AP statistics, the Russian military has carried out at least 34 attacks on medical facilities in Ukraine since the start of hostilities.

Ryan Goodman, a law professor at New York University, said that the attacks on these medical facilities by the Russian military were intentional. “Prosecutors will make inferences about how many medical facilities were targeted, which facilities were attacked repeatedly and over what period of time,” Goodman said.

Russia has not yet commented on the figures released by the AP.

This is not the first time the Russian military has been accused of attacking Ukrainian medical facilities since the outbreak of hostilities. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced on March 16 that there have been at least 89 attacks on health care systems worldwide since the start of this year, 43 of which have occurred in Ukraine.

“More than 300 medical facilities are located along the lines of conflict or in areas controlled by Russia. We condemn all attacks on medical facilities, no matter where the attack took place,” Tedros said at the time.

Putin says the West seeks to destroy Russian culture

Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 25 considered Western countries’ cancellation of Russian cultural events due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, equivalent to the destruction of many cultural books during World War Two.

“Today, they are trying to destroy a country that is a thousand years old. I am talking about discriminating against everything that has to do with Russia, and this trend is happening in a number of Western countries. Cultural destruction has become ‘cultural destruction’. The last time such a campaign of cultural destruction was carried out was about 90 years ago, when works were burned in the squares,” Putin said.
