Top 10 best manga rookies in 2021, the top name surprised many fans
Manga Taisho is an annual Japanese manga award. Prizes are limited to series with eight volumes or less, to promote outstanding rookies. The nominating committee, made up of staff from the bookstores, initially voted for five series. The names with the highest number of votes will become the official nominees of the year. The second round of voting will determine the first prize and other rankings.

Top 1 – Darwin Jihen
Darwin Jihen is a manga about a terrorist organization called “Animal Liberation Alliance” (ALA). The organization attacked a biological research institute and rescued a pregnant chimpanzee. That chimp gave birth to a “human” (half human, half chimpanzee) named Charlie. After being raised by his parents for 15 years, Charlie entered his first year of high school. There, he meets the intelligent but socially misunderstood Lucy. From here the story of two friends Charlie and Lucy officially begins.
Darwin Jihen won 74 votes and became the best Japanese manga rookie in 2021. Currently, the sales of this series are also having many positive changes. Many fans are looking forward to an anime version of this manga in the future.
Top 2 – Look Back
Look Back is a manga created by Fujimoto Tatsuki, the story is about Ayumu Fujino, a 4th grader who regularly draws manga for the school newspaper and is praised for having the best artwork in her class. Hirayasumi is a manga created by Keigo Shinzou about Ikuta Hiroto, 29 years old, a carefree young man with no love, no fixed job, and no worries about the future. He inherited an old house from his grandmother who was a neighbor and also where his 18-year-old cousin Natsumi moved in to study art in Tokyo. This is the story of Hiroto and the people living around him, who are struggling with a hard life every day. Hirayasumi with 66 votes came in 3rd place in Manga Taisho 2022.
Top 4 – Onna no Sono no Hoshi
Onna no Sono no Hoshi is a comedy manga set in an all-girls school. The story focuses on a Japanese language teacher named Hoshi, a teacher who loves his students very much. The story begins when Kagawa, a student, hands over the journal to Hoshi. From here the trouble begins with this good teacher guy. With 63 votes from the judging panel, Onna no Sono no Hoshi ranked 4th in Manga Taisho 2022.
Top 5 – Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite
Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite is a manga set in 15th century Poland. It was a time when heretical ideas were fully believed by the people. Rafal, a child prodigy, was supposed to major in theology, the most important subject at the time. However, one day, he encounters a mysterious man and is currently researching a “truth” that changes the world. From here the story begins. With 59 votes, Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite ranked 5th in Manga Taisho 2022.
Top 6 – Trillion Game
Trillion Game is a manga about two friends Haru and Gaku conspiring to earn a large enough sum of money to be able to own anything they both want at any time: a trillion dollars. This is a new work by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by artist Ryoichi Ikegami. With an attractive and extremely simple plot, Trillion Game won 55 votes and ranked 6th in Manga Taisho 2022.
Top 7 – Dandadan
As we all know, the manga Dandadan, also known in Vietnam as Armed Forces Supernatural, is a new manga title launched on Jump+ in April 2021, written by Tatsu Yukinobu.
In terms of content, the manga Dandadan is a story about Takakura Ken – a boy who believes only in aliens and Ayase Momo – a girl who only believes in mystical demons. Top 10 – Jitenshaya-san no Takahashi-kun
Jitenshaya-san no Takahashi-kun is a manga about Tomoko Hanno, abbreviated as Panko, 30 years old this year. Panko is worried about harassment from her boss. Takahashi, who works at a bicycle shop in Panko’s neighborhood, is always cold but caring. In fact, she could tell him her true feelings that she normally couldn’t tell anyone.
