Exhibition of nude paintings by 10 artists

The event opened on the morning of April 1 at the exhibition hall at 19 Hang Bai, attracting a large number of professionals and the public to attend. The exhibition space is simple with the dominant white tone and light to help highlight the work.

Paintings are arranged by author’s name, including: Mai Huy Dung, Duong Tuan, Minh Pho (Nguyen Minh), Nguyen Minh Dong, Tuan Dat, Nguyen Truong Linh, Bui Anh Hung, Phung Huy, Pham Ngoc My, Luong Thu Ha . The group is named The Nude, has a long-term orientation towards nude painting and plans to organize an exhibition each year with the group’s name and serial number.

According to Minh Pho, nudity is not a new topic in art, so the group has to “discover new things in old materials”. They focus on exploiting the beauty of Vietnamese women. The artist said: “Through the works on display, people can see images of women from the Northwest mountains, plains and countryside to modern city girls. We want to suggest more angles. look to the public”.

Each member is a curator, choosing their own favorite works to bring to the exhibition, no quantity specified. Paintings are shown on many materials: silk, oil paint, lacquer, dó paper… with many different styles.

Luong Thu Ha – one of the two female painters of the group – said she was always fascinated by the curves of women’s bodies. The artist brings to the exhibition three works Spring then, silk material, depicting the image of a young woman in harmony with nature. “The physical beauty of women in the spring age is likened to flowers racing to bloom. The harmony between nature and the female body creates a gentle, natural beauty,” Thu Ha said.

Mr. Luong Xuan Doan – Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association – evaluated the works depicting the beauty that nature bestows on women. “Each person has a different way of expressing themselves, creating diversity. Nudity here is understood in many ways and angles, not simply a woman’s body, but it can be inner beauty through eyes and body shape. The important thing is what the artist wants to convey through that painting,” he said.

Minh Pho said the process of applying for an exhibition permit was fast, with the highest number of approved nude paintings ever. “This is a good sign that the mechanism and perspective of the testers have changed to bring nude beauty closer to the public,” the artist said.
