At dawn on April 1, people discovered the body of a male student in the lobby of Van Phu Victoria apartment building (Ha Dong district, Hanoi). The victim is a high school boy named LNNM (16 years old), Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

Through confirmation, M. climbed to the balcony, jumped from the 28th floor of the building to the ground, leading to death. Before the incident, the male student left a suicide note for his family. In the letter, she said goodbye to her parents, as well as expressed her pressure during the past time.

Before the incident, Mr. Le Duc Anh – Behavioral Psychology expert for analysis. According to the World Health Organization, every year more than 1,500,000 people commit suicide. Among them, teenagers account for a high rate of suicide.

From the suicide of a 16-year-old male student, a psychologist warned his parents: Look at your child's behavior, it is best to become his child's trusted friend - Photo 1.

Behavioral psychology expert Le Duc Anh shared his opinion before the male student’s suicide.

The incident of male student M.’s suicide caused shock and grief for those who stayed, experts said that the psychological process of M. was complicated and had many negative manifestations before. But maybe my parents don’t notice. During puberty, children’s bodies will undergo changes not only physiologically but also psychologically. That change makes them fall into a state of being unable to control themselves and susceptible to negative syndromes.

Expert Duc Anh shared: “There are many reasons why puberty is prone to psycho-behavioral disorders. First, it may be because they have reduced learning ability, causing the following conditions: Stress, irritability, sometimes confusion. Second, because children have thought disorders, have slight to severe deviations in thinking, at this time, they are at risk of transitioning from behavioral disorders to mental disorders with paranoid symptoms. The danger is that they create a physical separation from everyone around them, giving rise to behavior and words that do not match reality.”

Before ending his life, male student M. left a letter and quickly threw himself down without fear or hesitation. When Dad read the letter, M. ended everything. Before the incident, there were many different opinions on social media, some people thought that I had prepared in advance, others felt it was a spontaneous thought. As an expert in human behavior psychology, Mr. Duc Anh said that it is difficult to identify this behavior.

“We are all outsiders, can’t judge everything by a short video. We don’t know what kind of person M.’s parents are, how they treat their children every day, and what M. has been through. Therefore, all judgments are subjective opinions. Most people when watching the clip think that M. is shallow and impulsive, but maybe it was a pre-calculation.” experts said.

The heartbreaking incident that happened is a wake-up call for many parents. Everyone has different pressures in life. If the pressure of adults is the burden of rice – clothes – rice – money, then the pressure of children is family, study, and love affairs. Therefore, before each even the smallest difference of the child, parents need to be attentive to detect it in order to make timely adjustments. From there, avoid unfortunate consequences like the past story.

Behavioral psychologist Le Duc Anh points out signs of instability in teenagers that parents need to pay attention to:

1. Emotional disturbance

Psychological changes make them more sensitive, emotions are also easily changed. Emotional disturbance occurs when there is a disorder in the brain, causing mental instability. It is a feeling of euphoria that quickly turns to an emotion of inhibition, or vice versa.

Manifestations of emotional disturbances are loss of appetite (even when hungry), insomnia, body emaciation, slow activity, loss of concentration, forgetfulness, not fresh face,… Children are easily shocked. before the teasing of friends, or think of negative things.

2. Stress and depression

At a sensitive age, it is often easy to be pressured from study, family, friends, etc. Even negative thoughts about body shape or personal level, desires beyond the ability of themselves and their families. family… also leads to stress. When they fall into this state, they often feel fatigue, stress, anxiety, vicious thoughts, etc. This leads to reduced learning outcomes and poor health.

Depression is a mental disorder that is easily acquired during puberty due to pressures from around or even from stimulants… Specific symptoms are: Or sad, don’t care about everything, neglect themselves, pessimistic, withdrawn, afraid to communicate… When they are depressed, they often isolate themselves from the outside world. Even many children are immersed in the “virtual” world. Worse still, stress and depression during puberty can also lead to suicidal behavior.

3. Psychological and behavioral disorders

At the bad age of children, bad adults, many children think of themselves as inferior, self-deprecating and lose their temper. They become shy, afraid to contact, do not like to express their moods, doubt their own abilities… This seriously affects their health and pushes them into other psychological syndromes such as: Depression, paranoia…

The cause of psychological and behavioral disorders is passive from books, violent movies, depraved cultural products and even from bad friends.

Experts realize that a dangerous thing is that the clip and the suicide note are spreading on social networks at a dizzying speed. This negatively affects students’ moods, thoughts, and perceptions. Many children expressed that they are feeling confused, afraid and worried about M’s story. If you see that your child has the above symptoms, parents should be close friends and companions to overcome difficulties. psychologically difficult.

“If your child has questions about M.’s story, or even implicitly compares himself to himself, parents should not get angry and yell at them. First, be calm and ready to share everything with your child. After that, analyze it so that your child understands all aspects of the problem. Parents need to point out the unpredictable consequences of the story, especially for the person who stays. However, parents should remember only a few statements. cannot help children properly perceive the problem, but it takes a long process of psychological impact”, German expert said.

Finally, the evaluator advises parents to spend their time paying more attention to the innovation of the times. The younger generation tends to develop differently from the parents’ generation. Therefore, imposing old standards that are not appropriate only makes children disgusted and reacts negatively. In order to facilitate parenting during puberty, parents should have a clearer view, filter out the appropriate wishes and allow their children to perform within a limited extent.
