The “answer” for Tesla, Mercedes

In a step towards bringing itself to the world, NIO recently officially handed over the first NIO ET7 electric sedans to customers in their home country – Hefei, Anhui, China.

Since its establishment and through many car launches, this handover of the NIO ET7 is considered an important step forward for the Chinese electric car company before entering a series of difficult European markets – the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and even Germany.

NIO ET7 has the ambition to compete with famous car manufacturers in the car industry.

One of NIO’s special plans is the deployment of battery exchange stations where its electric car models will be replaced by an automatic cycle performed by machines. With this approach, NIO has designed so that its models can use the same battery pack.

With the NIO ET7, this sedan shares the NT2.0 platform with the NIO ES7 electric SUV and even a smaller sedan – the NIO ET5. These models are all equipped with a standard 100kWh battery pack. With the NIO ET7, the manufacturer once mentioned equipping a high-capacity battery pack, up to 150kWh, enough for the car to travel a distance of up to 1000km on a full charge. The lowest version using a 100kWh battery pack is currently listed for $ 70,500, or more than 1.6 billion.

READY FOR TESLA, MERCEDES

The NIO ET7 is one of the most aerodynamic sedans in the world.

Notably, NIO is determined to compete fairly with world-famous giants such as Tesla and Mercedes. One of the proofs that can be seen is that NIO is equipping its model with the ability to drive itself.

According to information provided by the manufacturer, the NIO ET7 is equipped with a LiDAR sensor along with 33 sensors of various types placed around the vehicle, serving the self-driving feature that the company will require users to pay a monthly fee. Depending on local regulations, the NIO ET7’s self-driving system may reach Level 2 or higher. However, according to what this manufacturer promises, it will not be until the end of this year that users can use its self-driving feature.

Some people who have had the opportunity to experience first shared that the NIO ET7 can automatically change lanes, but the operation is still slow and needs a lot of improvement.

NIO ET7’s glass ceiling can block 99.9% of UV rays.

Although positioned as a luxury car, the NIO ET7 has the same capacity as supercars from Ferrari or Lamborghini. Specifically, NIO ET7 will be equipped with 2 electric motors for a total capacity of 644 horsepower and 850Nm of torque. Despite its large capacity, but because it is an electric sedan of large size and mass, the NIO ET7 only has an acceptable performance in terms of the standards of a sports car: Acceleration 0- 100km/h in 3.9 seconds.

In a sense, the NIO ET7 is considered a response from China to high-tech luxury electric sedans like the Mercedes EQS that is about to be sold in Vietnam or the approximately five-year-old sedan – Tesla Model S. Of course, because of the luxury side, the NIO ET7 will not be a rival to an electric sports car like the Porsche Taycan.

In addition to the battery charging station, NIO also allows users to rent batteries instead of buying them.

As mentioned above, NIO makes a difference from many other manufacturers in that this car company has many battery exchange stations. In fact, Tesla had intended to follow the battery swap model when it introduced this plan in 2013 but ultimately abandoned it because Elon Musk thought that users were not interested.

However, NIO has been pursuing this “dream” and has now opened about 800 battery exchange stations in China and aims to reach 1300 by the end of this year. Some industry insiders say that only foreign electric vehicle manufacturers in China need to worry about NIO, not overseas manufacturers. However, the future is still a mystery.
