Honey memory chip simulates human brain

Researchers at Washington State University (WSU – USA) believe that honey memory chips could be the key to green computing, as they can be powerful enough to mimic the workings of the human brain.

According to Blazetrendshoney-based computational memory designed to mimic the activity of the neurons in our brain, otherwise known as neuromorphic memory.

Computing memory is seen as the future of technology because the human brain can process, analyze, and adapt to what it sees in a way that a computer cannot. Although computers can process large amounts of data much faster than humans, humans still have the edge in approaching problems creatively.

Computing memory is said to be much faster and consume less power than other devices chips The best computer available today. This memory is capable of processing and storing data in write memory just like the human brain, so it is a transistor-like component. More importantly, the engineers at WSU created an active write memory out of honey.

The scientists used real honey. They processed it into a solid form, then placed it between two metal electrodes that mimic human synapses. Thanks to the research, they were able to simulate the activity of human synapses with honey memory. Honey memory is about the width of a human hair, but it needs to get even smaller in the future.

Honey memories also have another benefit as they are completely biodegradable. Although the team has also explored using other organic materials such as proteins and sugars, honey seems to be the first choice by far.

Researchers need a long way to go before implementation technology honey-based memory computing in any commercial product, yet important first steps have been taken.
