Looking for someone wearing a gas mask, wearing an orange protective vest

The incident happened at rush hour, about 8:30 a.m. on April 12 (US time) at the 36th Street subway station. The New York Fire Department said the shooting left at least 16 people injured. However, the authorities said that the extent of the victims’ injuries are not known yet.

A spokesman for the New York Police Department said they received an emergency call from a person who was shot at a subway station in Brooklyn.

According to initial information, police are looking for a man wearing a gas mask, wearing an orange protective vest. Police described the shooter as a man about 1.65m tall and 80kg in weight.

A source said it was likely a smoke bomb was detonated. A woman who witnessed the incident said the suspect threw out “a tube with sparks on the top of his head”.

After dropping smoke bombs on the train, the suspect started shooting. The suspect shot at least five people at a crowded subway station in Sunset Park during rush hour.

Police believe the suspect acted alone. The motive for the shooting is under investigation. Currently, tracking down the gunman is the top priority of the security agency.

Some experts say the shooting was pre-planned. However, Daily Mail believes that further investigation will be needed to reach a final conclusion.

Pictures of the scene showed many injured people being cared for at the station platform, with some injured lying on the floor. Sources said some of the injured jumped to another train to run to the next station.

Danny Mastrogiorgio took his son to school and saw a series of passengers, many of them injured, running up the subway stairs at the station panicking. He told the company AP that he saw at least two people with leg injuries. Danny Mastrogiorgio said: “It’s crazy. No one knows exactly what’s going on.”

Meanwhile, Allan Lee – owner of the nearby Cafe Nube – said that half a dozen police cars and fire trucks suddenly appeared.

Police warned New Yorkers to avoid the area and said there would be a risk of traffic jams in the areas. Photos posted on social media showed the New York Police Department bomb squad at the scene.

Earlier, the police received information about the appearance of smoke in the area where the incident occurred.

The train station where the incident happened was temporarily closed on the morning of April 12 to serve the investigation. The White House said President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident and is in contact with New York officials.

The shootings come as New York City has faced a spate of mass shootings in recent months. One of the most shocking incidents was on January 15, when a homeless man pushed an Asian woman into a train that was rushing to a station in Times Square, killing the victim on the spot.
