JapanMany diners come to Opuses restaurant because they are curious about how the dish looks like plaster.
The high-end Opuses restaurant at The Royal Park hotel in Ginza, Tokyo is notable for its desserts shaped like peeling walls or plaster.
The dish is called gray, made from strawberry cream, covered with meringue cake made from egg white. This dessert at first glance looks like a lime wall. To increase the feeling of realism, the restaurant also mixes black sesame into the cake to create similar patterns on the walls.
Although the idea was evaluated as odd, the dish was still praised by diners. “Use your taste buds to enjoy, instead of your eyes,” one person suggested.
This is not the first time Japanese restaurants have created strange dishes. Before that, Franken restaurant located in Osaka served customers noodles miso ramen with ice cream cones lying in the bowl. The dish also attracts the attention of many domestic and foreign diners.
Currently, Japan still imposes many disease prevention measures, and the border is not fully open to international visitors. Therefore, many people said that they are still waiting for the day this country welcomes visitors back to be able to enjoy the unique dishes.
