Central Highlands provinces link to develop cross-border tourism

Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that this plan was approved at the Summit of 3 countries Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia in November 2020. Accordingly, 5 provinces of Vietnam including Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc will cooperate with a number of localities sharing the border of Cambodia and Laos to develop tourism.

The cooperation aims to achieve 3 goals: focus on supporting infrastructure investment promotion; connect tourism potential, connect to form tourist routes, build tourism products and jointly promote and promote, thereby contributing to promoting socio-economic growth in this area and spreading to other localities within the three countries.

However, according to Mr. Ha Van Sieu, due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, after 2 years of delay, on the occasion of the Forum event “Kon Tum Tourism – Potential and Prospects”, this plan will be announced for all parties to join. joint implementation.

The localities in the Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam Development Triangle Area all share the same resources in pristine form, both in terms of nature and unique cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities. It is these similarities that have made the three countries, specifically the provinces located in the Development Triangle, have many opportunities to connect, creating the “Three countries – one destination” tourist route.

Talking to the press, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Director of Kon Tum Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, informed that tours to Laos and Thailand have been developed, attracting quite a few tourists. However, after two years of “freezing” because of the Covid-19 epidemic, the border gate was temporarily closed. Until now, Vietnam and other countries have opened their doors, including tourism activities. It will be restored soon.

Kon Tum province of Vietnam has a border of more than 292km, bordering with Laos and Cambodia with 1 international border gate and 2 auxiliary border gates. In addition, the province has great potential for tourism development, such as primeval forests associated with famous landscapes such as Mang Den (Kon Plong district), Chu Mom Ray national park (Sa Thay district), protected area Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve (Dac Glei District)… Thanks to its high terrain and cool and fresh climate, in recent years, Kon Tum has been known by many domestic tourists.
