Stocks continued to burn, VN-Index broke through 1,400 points

The stock market is experiencing a series of sharp declines when selling pressure spreads, especially after 2pm today (April 20), causing VN-Index continuously decreased dozens of points to close at the lowest level of the day after each session.

In today’s session, the green color returned to the main indexes of the market in the late morning and early afternoon session. However, repeating the old scenario, a series of tickers – including large, mid-cap and small-cap groups – turned to decline, causing the VN-Index to drop nearly 22 points.

Banking stocks fell very deeply; in which, SHB and LPB hit the floor price. The group of securities stocks also only increased by 1% in VND each. The rest of the codes fell deeply; in which, APG, APS, ART, OGC, TVB, TVC… fell to the floor.

Oil and gas stocks also only saw PLX gain, while PVB, PVD, and PVC even decreased in range. The group real estate stocks also moved to the floor price. Along with that, the group of chemicals and fertilizers, construction and materials, tourism and entertainment, insurance… were in the red.

The positive point is that foreign investors continued to be net buyers today. Specifically, foreign investors net bought more than 439 billion dong on HOSE and 20.78 billion dong on HNX, while only net sold 15.83 billion dong on UPCOM. Thus, in the last 7 sessions, foreign investors net bought more than 2,000 billion dong and became a bright spot in the market.

At the end of today’s session, the VN-Index dropped 21.73 points (1.55%) to 1,384.72 points; The HNX-Index fell 3.22% to 380.04 points and the UPCom-Index fell 1.77% to 106.4 points. Market liquidity reached nearly 24 trillion dong.

Market breadth skewed to the sellers as there were 831 losers, of which 169 fell to the floor, completely outnumbering the 201 gainers on all three exchanges.
