Fire at a Russian military facility, many casualties

“The fire left at least one person dead, 16 others injured” – Radio RT (Russia) quoted information from the rescue force at the scene said.

A serious fire occurred on the premises of the Central Research and Development Institute of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces.

This military research facility is in the city of Tver, about 180 km northwest of Moscow.

Radio RT described the scene “large clouds of smoke billowing from high-rise buildings. The fire spread about 1,000 square meters, causing partial collapse of the institute’s building”.

Firefighters are working at full capacity to put out the fire and evacuate people to safety.

The fire is believed to have started in one of the rooms on the second floor of the administrative building, according to RT.

The cause of a serious fire at a Russian military research facility is currently under investigation.
